The Locality
Churchwood Valley is a haven of peace within an environmental paradise, close to a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path. Our 75 acres include the coast, woodlands and pasture, and adjoin farms, National Trust land and the village of Wembury.
Our timber cabins and lodges are designed to sit comfortably in the wooded environment, while providing modern levels of comfort. Guests often say that being in a chalet in Churchwood is as close as possible to living with nature while having all the comforts of home.
But being close to nature doesn’t isolate our guests from vital facilities such as shops, surgeries, hairdressers, the church and places to eat. Local sporting facilities include free tennis courts, riding stables and a sailing club that welcomes temporary members. All these are available within the Parish of Wembury.
And the attraction of the locality goes further than the immediate surroundings. Walk along the spectacular coast path in one direction to Mountbatten and take the Water Taxi to the famous Barbican in the bustling harbour city of Plymouth. Walk the other way and you’ll come to the River Yealm, a stunningly beautiful estuary with trees growing down to the water’s edge. There, a ferry can take you either to Newton Ferrers, with its shops and the Dolphin Inn, or to Noss Mayo which has two fine pubs, the Ship and the Swan, both of which serve excellent food.
